Rise Training is owned and operated by Tinta Forte and De Boa. They established RISE Training in 2017.

Contra Mestre Tinta Forte

Contra Mestre Tinta Forte, as he is known in the capoeira community, was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. He is responsible for developing the Rise Training capoeira curriculum and is the lead instructor of our capoeira classes.

CM Tinta Forte is also in charge of managing all capoeira instructors, establishes class schedules, and manages facilities.

De Boa

De Boa, as she is known in the capoeira community, was born and raised in Chicago. She teaches the Capoeira for Kids School Programs with CM Tinta Forte.

De Boa also manages all Rise Training financial, marketing campaigns, and event operations. She establishes Rise Training collaborations and partnerships with local organizations and is in charge of Rise Training’s free community resource offerings, special programs and events.

GRAPPLING FOR BEGINNERS

​Learn basic ground techniques from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Sensei Joe Billups of Action MMA. This one-month self-defense and tactical training session is meant for anyone interested in learning more about grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You will condition yourself to learn what to do on the ground against aggressors. Whether you are considering competing or want to improve your self-defense strategies and techniques, this class is paced for you!

We are excited to have Sensei Joe Billups as Rise Training Academy’s official Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sensei. Originally from Champion Jiu-Jitsu, Sensei Joe created Action MMA in 2017 to train students in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense. After 20 years of training and amateur and professional competition, Sensei Joe received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2019 from  Master Asu Harvard. ​He is also a director of a fight team of amateur and professional MMA fighters. He has a work ethic and focus that we find infectious!

​This session takes place on all Wednesdays and Saturdays during the month of October. ​This series welcomes both men and women! No experience is necessary.

CLASS DAYS & TIMES:

• Wednesdays: 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm 
• Saturdays: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm​

LOCATION:  8716 S Colfax Ave, Chicago, IL 60617

​Wear comfortable workout clothing. We also recommend bringing water to class. Outdoor shoes are not allowed on the training floor. Students are welcome to train barefoot or with designated indoor-only training shoes.
