​To better serve our community, a portion of our proceeds benefits our community through hosting, partnering, and participating in events including health, fitness, and nutrition workshops, charitable wellness events, neighborhood festivals, and food drives. All events that we host are family-friendly and free to the community!

Monday Feb 2nd, join us for our first Shekere Workshop of the Winter Session. We look forward to welcoming you into our space while bringing some good, cleansing shekere energy to the South Side! This event is made possible by this exciting partnership with Music Moves Chicago.

Our Shekere Workshop is a FREE program led by Uche Omoniyi and Quincy Raggs that celebrates the West African gourd instrument used in traditional and popular music across West Africa and the African diaspora. This 10-week program offers space for participants to explore the history, cultural significance, and technique of the shekere, also known as chekere or agbe. For returning participants and seasoned players, the series also creates opportunities to deepen your relationship with the shekere and sharpen technique through collective practice. 

As always, this class is FREE and open to the public. All levels are welcome, from first-time players to seasoned practitioners.

We have 10 shekeres available, but please bring your own if you can.
